Zechariah Part Five
This is my commentary on the book of Zechariah. This book’s prophetic meaning is now revealed to the body of Christ. My comments are not meant to replace the word of God, nor be added to it. They are meant only as a guide for you to compare my interpretation to what the Holy Spirit leads you.
Please comment on areas that you feel are wrong and I will be happy to reconsider it included with the facts you gave. My only intention is to teach on the book of Zechariah and the interpretations God revealed to me, subject at hand.
Lack of leadership in the body of Christ on prophecy is unending. Those who are pastors and teachers constantly ignore these prophetic books. The rejection of prophecy has let to a great crisis in the church today. To teach the bible without teaching prophecy is just plain wrong. My goal as a teacher is to fill this gap.
Let us break bread and open the book of Zechariah, chapter 8:1-23. Please read this, [only], side by side when you have your bible with you. I use an NIV so I put those words here so it is easy for you to see what God stated in his holy bible.
Please be careful and do not place my words equal to those in the bible for they are not. This is just commentary only and I am not adding or taking away from the bible according to Revelation 22:19.
This is only a commentary of a long line of commentaries down through the last 2000 years. But I do believe this interpretation is far superior to any interpretation out there today.
Please pray for God to wake you up by giving proper interpretation of these prophecies so you may warn and wake up your family and the body of Christ.
For God says to wake up wake up or sleep forever for those [that] live in Babylon the Great, America, Jeremiah 51:57. For the daughter of Babel will not rise to inherit the kingdom to cover the earth with her cities, Isaiah 14:21. I have placed my words in a different color, this color, so that you may differentiate them from God’s words.
For those climbing the mountain of Zion are also told Awake, Awake and put on your garments of splendor, Isaiah 51:17;52:1. So let us not be the five virgins without jars of oil when Jesus Christ, Bridegroom, comes but let us fill our jars with oil, Holy Spirit, and be counted worthy to escape these things at the coming Rapture.Â

The Lord Promises to Bless Jerusalem
Again the word of the Lord Almighty came to me. 2This is what the Lord Almighty says:”I am very jealous for Zion;I am burning with jealousy for her.”3This is what the Lord says:”I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.”
Verses 1-3–God says he is very jealous for mount Zion. Zion was the greatest fortress of the Jebusites, actually a hill that has a natural spring.
When king David was conquering this Jebusite stronghold called Zion of Jerusalem he was taunted by the Jebusites inside similar to the way he was taunted by Goliath. They told king David he could not conquer this fort if even inhabited by lame and blind people. David’s answer back was a similar statement to use the water shafts to reach those lame and blind who are David’s enemies.
When this mighty Jebusite fortress was taken all of Jerusalem soon fell. David made this fortress on hill Zion the place where he first built his palace when taking Jerusalem, naming it the city of David.  Later when the Ark of the Covenant was brought to mount Mariah the name of mount Mariah was changed to mount Zion. Many think it was this fortress of Zion on hill Zion that became the place where the First Temple was eventually built. Although scripture doesn’t say exactly there does seem to be a great deal of scriptural support the mount/hill Zion is where the First Temple was built.  Here are some supporting scriptures for those interested:
2Sam5:7, Psalms 2:6, 9:11, 74:2, 87:2, 102:13, 137:3, Isaiah 2:3, 28:16, 51:11, 52:8, Jeremiah 50:5, Joel 3:21, Amos 6:1, Micah 4:2, Zechariah 9:9, Romans 9:33, 11:26, Hebrews 12:22, Revelations 14:1
The exact location of Zion is in dispute today for many reasons. The original Jebusite Spring fed Fortress was conquered by king David when he took Jerusalem.  This makes sense since it was the major stronghold of Jerusalem. David then turned it into his palace supplied by the greatest lumber from the king of Lebanon, Phoenicians. Then when Solomon built the 1st Temple at Mount Mariah, the name was changed to Mount Zion. Then thousands of years have gone by with these territories settled, dispersed, and occupation by Babylonians, Greeks, Romans and then once again dispersed in 70 A.D.
Today they claim they know where mount Zion is which is the western side of the mountain. They say this because this side is higher over Jerusalem then the other side. The problem though is that the other side is where the spring is where none of the experts claim was the fortress of Zion, where David occupied and built his palace while conquering the rest of Palestine.
Maybe Zion is in our hearts today. This is where we really battle for territories, in our hearts.
God says he will return to Zion and occupy Jerusalem.  Maybe what king David did is nothing but a shadow of future things. Like king David did, God, will occupy Zion going out all over the world and taking back the deed to the title of all creation, by force, enforcing His Father’s will. To put away all sin forever and ever and dwelling with us lowly men whom are lucky enough to be selected for a thousand years, Day of Rest, Day of Assembly.
               Zechariah 8:4-6 NIV
4This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem’ each with a cane in his hand because of his age. 5 The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there.”
6This is what the Lord Almighty says: “It may seem marvelous to the remnant of this people at that time, but will it seem marvelous to me?” declares the Lord Almighty.
Verse 4 and verse 6 start off with the same statement, the Lord Almighty says.  The NIV translators capitalized “Lord” and “Almighty” because this is translated God.   There were a couple of Aramaic words translated into the same English word, Lord. Lord in the Aramaic language in which parts of the original book of Daniel were written are translated in chapter 2 & 7 as Lord:rab , a chief, leader, or captain in Daniel 2:4-7:28. The other Aramaic word for Lord from Daniel 4 :36; 5:1; 9-10 & 23; 6:17 in which the spelling is different then the other Aramaic word, here it is, Lord: rabrevan.  The meaning of this is other Aramaic word translated as Lord is magnate or prince, son of king or son of God, God. For we know that many times the kings during those times would also claim they were God. Verse 4 also talks of a future time when people would grow to very old ages. By the end of the 1000 years there truly will be people in ripe old ages in Jerusalem sitting in the streets with a cane!
Lord Almighty in scripture is translated as God all powerful.
Zechariah 8:7-11 NIV
7 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west. 8 I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God.”
9This is what the Lord Almighty says:”You who now hear these words spoken by the prophets who were there when the foundation was laid for the house of the Lord Almighty, let your hands be strong so that the temple of the lord may be built. 10 Before that time there were no wages for man or beast. No one could go about his business safely because of his enemy, for I had turned every man against his neighbor. 11 But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as I did in the past,” declares the Lord Almighty.
Verses 7-11–This is not speaking of the time of the 2nd Temple when it was rebuilt and the Herod dynasty was installed by the Greeks and later Romans. This is speaking about a much distant time, we will call this today, in which the Jews will be drawn from the far east and far west, even far north, Russia, back to live in Jerusalem to never be scattered. For they will be faithful and true to their God. verse 10 speaks about the lack of safety during the rebuilding of the Second Temple. God states it will not be this way when the 3rd Temple is rebuilt. This will occur sometime over the next five years so this is something to look for in the news. God states in verse 11 this remnant will not be treated the same as the 2nd Temple remnant.
           Zechariah 8:12-17 NIV
12″ The seed will grow well, the vine will yield it’s fruit, the ground will produce it’s crops, and the heavens will drop their dew. I will give all these things as an inheritance to the remnant of these people. 13 As you have been an object of cursing among the nations, O Judah and Israel, So will I save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid , but let your hands be strong.”
14 This is what the Lord Almighty says: ” Just as I had determined to bring disaster upon you and showed no pity when your fathers angered me, “says the Lord Almighty, 15″so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid. 16 These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; 17 do not plot evil against your neighbor, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this,” declares the Lord.
Verses 12-17–We now know Jewish tribes have been returning back to Israel from the ten lost tribes that were swept away by the Assyrians. God always calls these ten tribes Israel. The other two tribes Benjamin and Judah that went to Babylon for seventy years and an additional tribe the tribe of the Levites, priestly tribe. These God calls Judah.  God tells Israel and Judah that they will both be coming back under the law of return. God also states they will be fruitful and their land will also bear great fruit. God will show pity on them this time by pouring his Spirit on them and will defeat all their enemies. Verses 16-17–They are to speak truth to each other. This means they will witness the truth of Jesus Christ to each other. For we know they all get saved according to scripture. So no longer will the false prophets be allowed to manipulate the truth in all Israel. Or this could mean there will be great revival even among the Rabbis.
         Zechariah 8:18-22 NIV
18 Again the word of the lord Almighty came to me. 19This is what the Lord Almighty says: “The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.
20 This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come, 21 and the inhabitants of one city will go to another and say, ‘Let us go at once to entreat the Lord and seek the Lord Almighty. I myself am going.’ 22 And many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the Lord Almighty and to entreat him.”
Verses 18-22–Verse 19 is in direct contrast to the scolding from God in 7:4. In 7:4 God states a scolding of how Israel has not changed their hearts at the end of the seventy years and that they were fasting for the wrong reasons. Now in verse 19 we see a completely different picture, where these fasts will become happy and joyful & glad occasions for Judah. Judah were the tribes decreed by God to go to Babylon for seventy years. The rest of verses 20–22 speaks of a time that Christ will be on earth for the 1000 year millennium.  During this time cities, nations, will go to other cities, nations to invite them to attend a Feast celebration in Jerusalem. No one will be scared or ashamed to love God.  Everyone will wear their faith like a badge of honor inviting others to participate. It will be something everyone will look forward to all year. And this will be a time that nations will look forward to having fellowship with other nations.
         Zechariah 8:23 NIV
23  This is what the Lord Almighty says:  “In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.'”
Verse 23–This is speaking of a time when all the Jews of the earth will be famous and talked about how God poured his words through their ancestors that allowed all to be saved. There will be no petty jealousy, only godly love! Â
