Adam and Eve add words to God’s words

Genesis 2:16-17
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” 18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Genesis 3:1-2
tells us what Satan and Eve tell us right before the fall in the Garden of Eden
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat from the trees in the garden, 3but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ “
3 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman.
Is this a lie from Satan? No! Is it manipulative deceptive and crafty? Yes. God never said they would die if they touched it. That was added by Adam when Adam was trying to help God by adding things to this simple one sentence gospel. I do not know why Adam did that but maybe he thought it made more sense that way. Its like mosaic laws written by men to add to the code that were slipped in the code possibly I do not know but Adam clearly did this and Eve fell first then handing the fruit to Adam to eat of the tree they were told not to.
It seems we can look at this and understand some of our innate sinful desires which is adding words to God’s words. This is a mirror of one type of evil. We can learn to not only avoid doing this we can also see more easily when others, especially Pastors are doing it. This is one reason I really look at most Pastors in horror when they are going to the Greek or Hebrew to reinterpret certain words in the bible and would rather leave it to the experts. Most people are completely incapable of speaking after learning a foreign language once they are an adult. The Jehovah Witnesses cult found their beliefs in the beginning with a Men’s bible study movement in the mid 1850’s in which one of the group leaders was going to the Greek on certain scriptures concluding it was no properly interpreted.
You see all men and women are born with an innate desire to worship and serve God. But when we take it too far we try to help God and this messes things up. God does not need our help as if he were our neighbor or something. God knows all. God is holy and its sinful when we assume God, our creator needs our assistance as if he were some bumbling idiot needing the assistance of the one he created.
We see in Revelation 22:18-19 that God states we are not to add or take away even one word from this book of prophecy. This is one thing that divides Catholics From Protestants. The Catholics interpret that to mean only the book of Revelation which is weird to me because there is prophecy in every book of the bible. The Protestants believe at that point the bible is closed with no more of God’s words being breathed through the prophets.
5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. In order to properly analize these scriptures, first, we must take note of some basic facts and list them.
1.) Verse 6 says Adam and Eve were both together when Satan was talking to Eve.
2.) Adam never spoke up corrected Eve, he was passive. This means that it is quite possible Adam taught this word for word to Eve as the gospel or he would have corrected her about something as important as. An argument would have ensued at a minimum.
3.) Adam never correctly taught Eve word for word what God said in Genesis 2:16 for Eve had not been created until afterwards when God caused man to fall into a deep sleep in Genesis 2:21 (compare Gen 2:16 with 3:2).
4.) The woman said that God said you may not touch the fruit or you will die, God never said that. This is phariseeism or adding things to the gospel God never intended.
5.) Genesis 3:13 The woman says the serpent deceived her before she ate it.
Adam lied when he blaming Eve like a child lies to his Father, for Adam was standing right there listening to Satan, choosing instead to not speak up nor did he attempt to prevent Eve from eating fruit from the forbidden tree, being passive because he also wanted to participate in the eating of the fruit also. Both childlike in spirit chose sin because they believed Satan’s lie that if they ate they would be like God. They fell in sin at the same time together, not separate incidences where she took it, ate it, then took it somewhere else to him where ever he was. He was with her together quiet at Eve’s side fascinated by the words from the Serpent and they fell into sin together.
Genesis 3:6 appears to say Eve and Adam inspected the fruit first either by possibly touching it or catching it when Satan lobbed it to them playfully causing them to hold it and weakened while Satan calls God a liar with the proof they did not immediately die. Then while they were holding it, Satan the accuser calls God a liar stating it was good for wisdom and good to eat, besides they did not die.
What can we learn from all this?
Adam and Eve were the first Pharisees adding words to God’s words to help God as if God needed it.
God’s words are holy, and, we must cling to them with our very life. One word out of place and Satan can use God’s words against us.
Mankind always wants to add rules and regulation to God’s words. We are no different than legislature and congressmen. We keep wanting to add men’s words to God’s words. we are all like Pharisees, “Blind guides that strain out a gnat swallow camel,” Jesus said in Matthew 23:23-24.
Eve told Satan in 3:2 “and you must not touch it, or you will die.”
God never said this so lets look closely to see who is responsible for changing the gospel. Look closely at 2:17 again. God only said you cannot eat it. I believe Satan did decieve them into eating it by tossing or lobbing the fruit at them resulting in one of them in which their reflexes took over and she caught it in middle of the air. reflexibly catching it, maybe. Playing catch is something all people groups as children do for fun. The automatic reaction would be to catch it by reaction or impulsively catching it. This would account for Eve’s explanation to God that she was tricked by Satan. Actually they tricked themselves by not meditating on the gospel.
It appears they were decieved like Eve said in Ge3:13.
So they were decieved because they did’nt cling to every word God spoke like their life depended on it. They were also decieved because they were adding their own words to God’s words from the very beginning, possibly trying to help God. Jesus Christ called this Phariseeism and even compared it to yeast in bread. For Christ warned to beware of the yeast of the pharisees, (Matthew 16:5-12) for it puffs up the bread with nothing.
For God’s people have had this problem since the beginning of time. Man always want to help God, but cannot. We can only follow God for God has no equel and we are like nothing.
Selah (meditate on this).
